When one of our team celebrated a birthday recently, they decided to go all in on two of life’s greatest joys: cake and bubbles. A quick search for Christchurch’s best dessert spots (and a little insider tip from a local foodie friend) led straight to Strawberry Fare, and it turned out to be a delicious discovery.
Eight friends, two bottles of Mumm (yes, they do BYO), and a rainy afternoon set the stage for a cozy celebration. Outside, the rain poured down, but inside, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Hagley Park, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of charm.
The table soon turned into a dessert lover’s dream. From The Ultimate Chocolate Dessert stacked with fudge brownie, mousse, ice cream and raspberry coulis, to favourites like tiramisu, baby lemon cheesecake, and sunken chocolate cake with black doris plum sorbet, every bite was pure indulgence.
The standout of the day was the Dreamy Creamy Cheesecake. Soft, airy, and beautifully balanced, its baked citrus layers were lifted by notes of kaffir lime, vanilla, and bergamot. Each spoonful was a reminder of why dessert deserves to be its own course.
By the end, one thing was certain: Strawberry Fare’s dessert menu is pure magic. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just treating yourself, this Christchurch gem deserves a spot on your must-visit list.
